Svensen came to Texas Technological College as head of the Engineering Department in 1926 after a distinguished teaching career at Tufts and Ohio State. Became the college registrar in 1933 and, later the same year, returned to a private consulting practice while continuing to write and publish numerous technical studies on engineering and architecture.
